About Us
Geisler Farms, managed by Darrell and Malinda Geisler, is a third-generation family business that raises corn and soybeans 14 miles northeast of downtown Des Moines, Iowa.
The farm was established in 1945 by Darrell’s parents and grandparents. During the early years, the farm raised corn, soybeans, oats, hay, milk cows, hogs and chickens. When Darrell joined the farm business in 1970, it specialized in corn and soybeans. From the 1970s through the 1990s, Darrell also raised two children.
Malinda joined the farm in 2000 after serving agricultural writing positions in Cedar Rapids and Des Moines for 12 years. A fifth-generation Iowa farmer, she also works part-time for Iowa State University Extension as a value-added agricultural specialist for the Ag Marketing Resource Center (www.agmrc.org).
Darrell’s daughter, Rachel Miller, lives next door with her son Tanner. She is a graphic designer and designs the corn maze and other farm materials. Darrell’s son Jonathan Geisler works overseas.
Geisler Farms launched Growing Family Fun, an agritourism business, in 2005. Growing Family Fun provides an opportunity to communicate and educate visitors about Iowa agriculture.
